Coal Mine and Boat Show

Three weekends ago, we went to Pennsylvania to ride a train and see a coal mine, and then to Annapolis to a boat show. It was a last-minute decision (I made the plug for Niagara Falls but Iain thought 14 hours in the car in two days was too much) and we had a great time! Here are a few pix. One of the highlights was eating in a diner in a small town for breakfast and the short order cook invited Audrey to cook her own eggs on the griddle. They set her up on a chair, tied an apron on, and let her go. She had so much fun!

My Friday afternoon entertainment

The first video is Audrey, Avery and Kai in a "presentation" as they call it. They practiced upstairs then came running downstairs, ready to perform.

The second video is later in the afternoon, with our kids plus a little girl down the street. They are singing the songs that Audrey has been learning in first grade, that she has told us very emphatically, "these are 3 songs that every first grader MUST know."

 

Kai moves to a toddler bed!

Iain set up Kai's toddler bed tonight while the kids were in the bathtub. All 3 came down, super excited to see the addition to his room. All 3 hopped on the bed and then Kai just laid down, asked for his blankets on top of him, and didn't move again (the two bears you see next to his head are bears the girls went and found for him to sleep with in his new bed).

The rest of us left the room and he didn't make another sound. I think he likes it, and hopefully tomorrow night is as easy as tonight. =)

Here's a picture of him from a few minutes ago. (We left the crib set up in case there was a meltdown and we needed to move him back to his old digs. Looks like we should be good to take it down.)
