Happy Birthday to Me!

Yesterday was my birthday and I got to spend the day with the two most beautiful girls in the world! Here are a couple of pix from our fun time.

More funny things

A couple of weeks ago at dinner, I asked Audrey where her muscles were. I didn't really think she knew, so I was going to teach her. She looked at Iain and said "Daddy." So Iain pushed up his shirt sleeve and flexed his bicep. Audrey smiled and said "Grande!", pronounced GRAWN-day, which probably everyone knows but is "big" in Spanish. Oh my gosh, priceless. I guess Iain had taught her to say that, but I had no idea. I'd like to catch her on video saying it ... it was hilarious.

We also have a little negotiator on our hands. Last night before going to bed, Audrey was picking books to read. The girls' books are on the lowest shelves of the bookcase, and then we have other random books up higher. Audrey reached up, grabbed the dictionary, and said "this." So I asked her if she really wanted to read the dictionary and she said she did, so we opened it. She pointed to a page and said "song." So I just started singing a song (I think I started with "Twinkle, twinkle"). When it finished, she pointed to another page, and we sang a different song. This continued for about 10 songs, and so I told her "okay, one more". So we sang one more, she was satisifed that the singing had ended, but then she pulled another book off the bookshelf. I told her "okay, we'll read this one book, then it's time for bed." So she said "three" (as in, three books). I said, "no, one". So she said "two". I'm sure every kid does this, but it's hard to resist her little charms!

She didn't get very far while I had the camera running, but she's still awfully cute.

The Wheels on the Bus

This is from today. This is Audrey's new favorite song.

Also, Avery started crawling backward this weekend. It's less of a crawl and more of a "push herself backward with her arms while her legs do nothing" kind of a movement, but she's pretty good at it!

These Beautiful Girls

Audrey's new fave thing to say is "no, on't want it" and she uses this phrase for everything that brings her displeasure. "Audrey, please put on on your shoes." "No, on't want it." "Audrey, please don't take the book away from Avery." "No, on't want it." "Audrey, please eat your breakfast." "No, on't want it." You get the picture.

One day this week, the girls and I walked to Target. Audrey was balancing on the curb, and some bushes were overgrowing the curb. When she got to them, she said "moo-me" which is her "excuse me." It was so cute.

Avery is still the happiest, laughing-est little girl. Audrey's actions always seem to make her laugh (unless, of course, Audrey is taking her book away ... see above).
