I Totally Forgot ...

Two Saturdays ago, Audrey was at swim class and swam all by herself (no teacher, no noodle, no flugles) for about 15 feet and then repeated it (in smaller lengths) several times. We're so proud of her!!

Three's a Charm

We're all doing well. Both girls had their school physicals today and are healthy and, of course, advanced in their skills. =) Both are also in about the 30th percentile for height and weight, and both had a great time wearing the headphones and pushing the button during the "hearing game."

Kai is also growing so fast and a picture will be forthcoming tomorrow. I promise.

So my 3 funny stories from Avery in the last 24 hours:

1. Last night at dinner, Avery (who loves to sing) started singing a song in gibberish, which was pretty funny. When she finished, she said matter-of-factly, "now I'm going to sing a song in Spanish." We all started cracking up, and then asked her what language the previous song was in, and she said, "English." Ah, of course. So she commenced with her Spanish song, which was cute,m but sounded exactly like the English version. I guess not to her.

2. This afternoon, the girls were making "soup" out of water, flour, brown sugar, salt and pepper. It sort of made a big mess. When they finished, Audrey was holding her ingredient bowl with the extra flour while she wiped the wet floor with her foot on a towel next to the couch. Do you see where this is going? In the next moment, flour was all over the couch. I got out the vaccuum cleaner and vaccuumed it with the hose. No problem. But then the girls wanted to try using the hose. I left it with them and walked away to finish cleaning the mess in the other room (where we had started before I got smart to move them to the art table). Anyway, after a minute, I heard Avery say, "Mommy, look at this." I didn't look immediately. My mistake. After about 15 more seconds, I walked to where she was, and she was vaccumming Kai, who was sitting in his bouncer. Sorry buddy. Thankfully he looked unfazed.......

3. Tonight, the girls were eating peaches after supper. Audrey finished hers first and went to sit with Iain on the couch to read a book. Avery saw that books were being read, so she put her peach down and ran to jump on the couch. Iain stopped her as she was about to climb up and said, "whoa, are your hands clean?" So with a very straight face, she just said, "It's okay. I'm going to wipe them on the couch." Um, exactly. At least she's honest! =)

Kai Smiled

If you're still catching your breath from that last invigorating video, then this news might be too much to bear. =)

About an hour after I took that video, Kai smiled at me ... twice. Real smiles. A smile that says "you are the coolest mommy in the universe!" Anyway, it's truly one of the most beautiful sights in the world, your children smiling at you, and it made my morning!

Kai Loves Me!

He slept last night from 8:45pm until 4:02am!

Technical issues

OK, something has happened recently where I am unable to switch pictures that I've put on the blog. I obviously put the wrong pic on the last entry and I can't fix it. Here's the correct one.

Board Games, Prank Calls and Pix

Two days ago, the girls and I were playing Chutes and Ladders in the basement. It was the first time we've played in several months. A few minutes after we finished, Audrey wanted to play school and she was the teacher. She told the class (Avery and I) to sit down and told us we were going to play "Shoot the ladder."

Separately, the girls know our phone numbers and Avery LOVES to practice calling. Last night, I looked at my phone and saw that I had a missed call from someone with a phone number that was one digit different than mine. When I listened to my voicemail, there was a nice woman saying, "I received a call from a very little person from this phone this morning. Just wanted to let you know that she had your phone. She was very friendly, though." Hilarious. I can just imagine Avery talking to a complete stranger, very possibly in Spanish, asking how they're doing and what they're doing.

Yesterday, we went to the Children's Museum in Baltimore. It was a great museum and if you're ever in the area with kids, I highly recommend a trip there!

Kai is 5 weeks old today, so I'll take some pictures of him later (if I thought there were no pictures of me as a second child, Kai will find that there are even fewer pictures of a 3rd child). =) He was 10 lb, 4 oz last Monday at his 4-week (minus 1 day) checkup, and he is such an easy and happy baby. We love these children so much.

Here are a few pix from the past week, including the girls with their Big Sister and Kai with his Little Brother shirt, Avery too cool for school at breakfast, and a fun, quick visit with our friends Al & Joyce from San Diego who were in town over the weekend.
